Frequently Asked Questions
PRICE
Can you quote me a price?
Sure. You'll find that my pricing is very fair. Before I can supply a quote, I need to know a few details about your event. Go to my PRICE QUOTE page and SEND me your event info. Do you require a signed contract?
Not always. If you or your organization would like a written and signed contract, I will provide one, no problem. How do I book a date?
Easy. After I have all the event details (time, place and price,) I follow up with a "Confirmation Email." If you agree, then your date goes into my calendar and you can consider it booked. What forms of payment do you take?
I prefer cash or check. Payment is expected at the conclusion of my playing time. I will provide an invoice. AT THE EVENT
Setup requirements?
One a power outlet, a 5' by 5' space for my Steel Drums and two spots for PA speaker stands. And I always pack an extra microphone for your announcements. How long does it take for you to setup?
My full PA system for big rooms takes about 1 hour to load in and connect. For smaller rooms I set up a single amplifier in about 30 minutes. If I play just Steel Drums without backing tracks I can be up and running in a little as 20 minutes. Indoors or Outdoors?
Outdoor parties are great when the weather cooperates. If rain is forecast, It's good to have a indoor backup plan. When playing outdoors, Steel Drums need shade because the hot sun can ruin the drum. |
BEFORE THE EVENT
Why do you use backing tracks?
I play my Steel Drums live along with professionally recorded backing tracks - broadcast over my quality sound system - to get a full band effect. To get an idea of the kinds of songs I play, take a look at my SETLIST page. Are backing tracks economical?
Yes. Backing tracks help keep prices low for my clients. The fee for a solo artist like me with a backing track setup costs a lot less than hiring a full band. How long do you play at Parties?
Clients usually hire me to play for 1 to 2 hours. I may take a 5 minute break after the first hour, but I tend to keep the music going and play on through. How long do your Library and School programs last?
Educational programs can last anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your schedule. If time permits, I like to allow folks to "come on up" and take a closer look at the Steel Drums towards the end of the program. 5 reasons to book Calypso Ted:
